We've been selling antique pine furniture, french, painted and distressed furniture and unusual and beautiful things for almost 15 years. Barnaby has been repairing, restoring and making furniture for nearly 30 years. Now we have incorporated a new range of handmade jewellery and crystals to complement our stock.

We realise it sounds like an unusual combination but we think it works. The shop looks more beautiful than ever and there is now something for every taste and every budget. Our furniture is largely antique pine but we have pieces in other woods: oak, walnut and mahogany for example; we also specialise in painted furniture, slightly distressed but elegant and classic; we have plenty of newly made items, created by local craftspeople from new or reclaimed timber and we stock many handmade craft items, from stained glass and imported bohemian forest glass to high quality soaps (by sussex firm Christina May) and local ceramics.

We now have a fine display of pendants from the studios of Clare Van Moppes. Luckily for us, she is based locally: her pieces are generally sold in outlets in Kensington and Brighton, often to rather well-heeled customers. For us though, she has assembled a range of semi-precious stones finished in solid silver. You can spend as little as £8 on some examples; most are around £20 or you can splash out on one of her multi-gem pieces that regularly appear in the fashion mags. Each piece is unique and the methods Clare uses let the character of the stone shine through, so subtle is the application of the silver. This makes her jewellery popular with crystal healers, as well as those people who just appreciate beauty for its own sake.

We can't claim to be experts or earnest believers in the healing properties of crystals, but we see no reason to dismiss the possibility. It would be unforgiveable to pretend otherwise just to sell stuff, so all we can say is that we respect and are open-minded to those beliefs. That way,at least you'll know we're not out to make money out of people's ailments. Let's face it, enough of that already goes on.

You'll find a good selection of loose gemstones, both polished and rough, large and small. We're adding new stock all the time, with several sources supplying us. You can 'pick and mix' with many stones at a pound or choose larger, more individual pieces like polished labradorite or big amethysts. We aim to please (it's good for business) so ask if you would like us to obtain a particular mineral.

Our gallery shows our stock and our work as effectively as our photographic skills will allow and as comprehensively as we can be bothered. Come and see us in the shop for a better look and feel or phone or e-mail to arrange delivery if you think you’d like something.
