Large french solid oak kitchen base

Large oak handmade kitchen unit          £395 Very big and solid kitchen unit made completely from solid oak. There’s no chipboard or plywood in it: even the drawer bottoms and the panelled back are solid oak. Commensurately, it’s extremely heavy; luckliy it can be taken to bits quite easily. It’s not an antique; probably made in the last 30 years..but it is made fairly traditionally; obviously machines were used in its creation but guided by hands rather than mass produced. Condition is good; there’s some slight bowing of the top and general scuffs around and about but nothing much. A bargain compared to new fitted kitchen units, which don’t have a long shelf life (tee hee). This one could still be going strong after you’re dead. And your children.. dimensions: 252cm x 104cm x 53cm free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £50 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. big reclaimed pine dresser top

big reclaimed pine dresser top

glazed kitchen cupboard in pine    £250 a large dresser top, made in reclaimed pine, with two glazed, leadlight doors and 7 small drawers. It’s actually new and unused but has got a bit scuffed and chipped in places. We bought this, with its base, from the wholesaler at a good price because of the minor damage it had suffered. The base got sold, leaving its loyal and trusty friend behind. Sometimes I cry into the night about this. Can you help? Just £250 can rehome this loving and beautiful item. I seem to have cunningly omitted pictures of the aforementioned damage; I will try to put some on soon. It’s mainly to the cornice and one lower corner. I’ve sanded it smooth and will colour it to match. It’s actually quite a bargain, this; loads of uses and possibilities. free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £30 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. antique carved oak cupboard made from 17th century panels

A beautiful and interesting piece, this; it’s an antique oak cupboard sideboard thing with two doors, two drawers and a huge great slab of slate on top, and a raised backplate behind. But the carvings on the doors and sides and every other part are just something else. At first I thought it was a very fine Victorian copy of an older piece, but then I realised (with help from some accomplices..) that it is almost certainly made up from much earlier panels, possibly from an old coffer or bed heads, or both. We’re talking late 1600’s here, or early 1700’s anyway. Absolutely stunning carvings all over it. I particularly like the oak leaves on the bottom friezes, though these are somewhat damaged. There’s plenty of wear and tear on this, which is hardly surprising, given its age, and it just adds to the overall feeling, I think. The slate has got etched in a few places by something. It could be polished and dressed with oil but it’s just fine as it is. There’s a lot of little white fossils in it, too, which is a bit good.. I’ve done as little as possible to this, in terms of restoration. I treated it for woodworm, just in case. Structurally, I had to play around with the feet to make it level; it had been adapted for a very uneven floor, I expect, and rather clumsily at that. There was a bit of minor glueing and pinning but other than that, I just carefully cleaned it to a dull shine, trying not to remove too much of the dark, aged look. If you wanted, you could lighten it to a warm brown with a bit of a rub, and wax or oil it. It would look wonderful, but I’ve worked on the principle that you can take it away, but you can’t put it back and, currently, it is perfect for a properly restored mediaeval timber framed house. Someone please buy this who loves it as much as I do.. dimensions: 140cm x 63cm x 100cm (75cm to slate top)                                                    £1200 free delivery to hastings and eastbourne, brighton, tunbridge wells, ashford etc…Sussex, Kent, Surrey, London and further afield,  please ask for a quote....
