Large french solid oak kitchen base

Large french solid oak kitchen base

Large oak handmade kitchen unit          £395 Very big and solid kitchen unit made completely from solid oak. There’s no chipboard or plywood in it: even the drawer bottoms and the panelled back are solid oak. Commensurately, it’s extremely heavy; luckliy it can be taken to bits quite easily. It’s not an antique; probably made in the last 30 years..but it is made fairly traditionally; obviously machines were used in its creation but guided by hands rather than mass produced. Condition is good; there’s some slight bowing of the top and general scuffs around and about but nothing much. A bargain compared to new fitted kitchen units, which don’t have a long shelf life (tee hee). This one could still be going strong after you’re dead. And your children.. dimensions: 252cm x 104cm x 53cm free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £50 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. Antique french glazed armoire vitrine

Antique french glazed armoire vitrine

Antique hardwood vitrine                £325 Old french armoire, or vitrine, having the top part of the doors glazed. Classic piece that every french house might have had; in the kitchen with the good china on show, or upstairs with the linen. It’s made from an unidentified hardwood (there’s loads to choose from in France) stained a mahogany colour. Around 1910, probably. There are three shelves inside and the lock has the original, working key. The cornice lifts off and the doors remove but other than that it doesn’t dismantle; not without a fair bit of bother anyway. And it won’t work as a wardrobe, unless you have front-to-back rails; it just isn’t deep enough. Those caveats aside, it’s a fine and imposing piece of furniture with lots of storage potential. dimensions: 140cm x 42cm x 210cm high free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £30 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. Old pine chest of drawers

Old pine chest of drawers

Small pine chest of drawers          £195 A pine two over three chest of drawers probably made around 1930 It’s unusually small for the amount of drawers, and very simple; apart from a trim around each drawer it’s devoid of any ornamentation. Hence it will fit into a lot of different settings. The cup handles are added, though the right sort of age. Condition is fair; structurally it’s pretty good and does its job; there’s a split in the top (doesn’t move)and plenty of wear and tear but all in the name of character..   dimensions: 91cm x 45cm x 82cm high free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £30 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. Pair of oak fireside benches

Old oak low benches            £325 the pair Two old benches or pews, left and right handed, that were part of a completely oak panelled room in a pub. These would have gone either side of a fireplace. The seats are unusually low but good for lounging with cushions.. The seats lift up to reveal a storage space, probably used for logs and kindling etc. The condition is so-so; where they fitted into the rest of the panelling there are some rather unfinished edges. There is no floor below the lids, and the general finish could be improved. There would have been a plinth running round the bottom. In all though, these are perfectly useable and strong, and are priced for their condition. dimensions: 106cm x 72cm x 139cm high; seat height 31cm free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £30 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. traditional french oak table

French oak dining table                £275 Nice looking french table with turned legs. The base is all solid oak while the top is veneered. Good quality reproduction, probably around 30-40 years old. The top has breadboard ends and is thick and heavy. The base is properly made with a central rail and pegged joints. Condition is good although the finish could do with a spruce up. dimensions: 160cm x 82cm x 74cm high free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £30 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. Large antique chest of drawers

Large antique chest of drawers

Early 1800’s veneered chest of drawers     £295 Beautiful old chest of drawers from around 1830. It’s oak lined and veneered with a highly figured timber, possibly walnut. It has its original brass handles and escutcheons. The finish of this antique chest has darkened over the years around the edges, and around the brassware, giving a pleasant patina. It does need quite a lot of work, however. It can be used perfectly well as it is, but there’s quite a few chips and chunks out of it which we’ve tried to reperesent in the pictures. A couple of structural things would benefit from some help too.. But there we are; it’s priced according to condition and, from a purely practical perspective, it’s a lot of storage space for a reasonable outlay. dimensions: 134cm x 57cm x 114cm high   free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £30 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. antique pine chest of drawers

continental pine chest of drawers              £225 Nice looking antique pine chest of drawers from Eastern Europe probably. It has three drawers with brass handles and escutcheons. The bottom two are nice and deep. It was painted dark brown and we stripped it, leaving some speckles here and there, which we didn’t sand off as they seemed quite characterful. Laziness was not a factor, let me assure you..   good, solid, clean chest of drawers with loads of uses. antique pine chest of drawers £225 dimensions: 94cm x 51cm x 79cm high free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £30 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. large antique pine kitchen dining table

antique pine table with three drawers           £575 big plank top refectory type table, made of pine around 1900. There are three drawers on one side. It’s had a lot of wear over the years, giving it a wonderfully characterful feel. The legs and cross bars look almost carved into bone shapes. There would’ve been a long central bar but it would be difficult to replicate the age of the rest of the piece and, as it seems strong enough without it, we’ve not tried. We have, however, replaced the bottom section of two legs and a crossbar’s ends, using oak, as it seemed more in keeping than newly cut pine. It’s finished in oil, to give some protection without too much gloss. large antique pine table   £575 dimensions: 215cm x 84cm x 80.5cm high free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £30 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. antique wash tub barrel

continental coopered wash tub                   £175 unusual barrel made wash tub on legs. Probably eastern european in origin. Not sure of its age; can’t imagine it’s a reproduction but I guess that’s not impossible; more likely an early 20th century piece. If so, it once would’ve held water: no longer though.. It has a cute little plug stopper, and a handle to brace your muscular peasant girl arms against. A must for every modern household. free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; approx £30 by courier to Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent. large vintage baroque style dining table and chairs

large vintage baroque style dining table and chairs

Vintage Italian extending table and chairs             £1200 Very large extending table made, we think, in Italy in the 1950’s. An unashamed celebration of the Rococo, or Baroque styles of the 1700’s, it’s incredibly sumptuous with the most over-the-top details of swags and flowers and fruit.. It’s utterly ridiculous…and beautiful! There is a central leaf which fits in when the others are pulled out, giving over 2.5m length; enough to seat ten, maybe twelve guests. Though we just have the six chairs to go with it: two carvers and four ‘normal’. There are some defects: a couple of pieces of carving are missing round the table top (worst is shown in the pics); a finial is missing from one chair top, and a flower (same chair); the top is very faded (though, typically, not the less used central leaf), though that is not without charm; there are general scuff and scratches to the top but, again, characterful rather than ugly. In general, it’s pretty darn good. dimensions: 212cm long (closed) 263cm (open) 111cm wide,  77cm high free delivery to Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne; Brighton, Ashford, Maidstone, Haywards Heath, Canterbury and most of Sussex and Kent.
